Team Updates

posted Jun 7, 2013, 3:07 AM by Alan Duesterhaus

Hello Marlin parents, it has been a terrific start to our season. We are so pleased that all of you have chosen to swim with Converse this summer. The kids are doing fantastically well and moving along with their stroke technique quickly. As we head into the season, we have a few items to cover just as a heads up:

1. Some kids who do not swim regularly (and even for some who do), this is the timeframe where “swimmers’ ear” can develop. It is a painful inflammation of the outer ear and can keep kids out of the pool for a few days. A very effective solution is to create ear drops with ½ vinegar and ½ rubbing alcohol. Put the drops in ears each day after practice. There are also drops you can purchase at local pharmacies that do the same work.

2. We are still welcoming swimmers to the team. If your child is having a positive experience, we hope they will invite a friend to come swim with the Marlins! As you might be able to tell, we will work with very beginner to very advanced swimmers. We enjoy having fun and teaching stroke technique and hope the team will continue to grow. They can even bring a friend to try it out – and then they can decide.

3. Our first swim meet is next Tuesday night. There will be a swim meet e-mail with details for the meet, but we want to have a parent meeting next Sunday night (June 9 at 6:30 pm). We will meet in the Barnet Room of Montgomery (the same building as the pool but downstairs). We do not anticipate that it will last more than an hour and we hope you can join us.

Go Marlins!
